When you do something amazing, it's important that you share those wins with your followers. I know from experience that this can be difficult because you feel like you're bragging. However, the simple truth is that if you don’t do it, no one else will. And if you don’t do it, you won’t get the credit or advancement you deserve from life. Sharing your wins can make a huge difference in your success. And I've discovered 5 ways to do it without seeming conceited!
Take Credit for Your Own Accomplishments
When you have done something positive for someone else or created a product that solves problems for a lot of people, you should take credit for your part in coming up with the idea and implementing the process or creation of the product. Standing up and saying “Yes, I did that” is not wrong or bragging. You did it. You deserve the credit for your accomplishments.
Share Team Credit Freely
When taking credit for something, always give credit to your team as well in a very free manner. Mentioning your team when taking credit is a great way to ensure that they feel respected. Plus, they’ll work even harder for you when they learn that you reward work well done.
Praise Others Lavishly
When you take credit for something, it's proper to also apply praise to others in a lavish way – at the same time. Don’t ever skimp on your praise of others for true work done that you appreciate. The truth is when you are honest with your praise for them and yourself, everything will seem very natural.
Don’t Blow Smoke
When you do take credit, don’t add to it things that aren’t true or even are slightly exaggerated. It’s okay to do that when you’re talking to someone else about their accomplishments but never do it for yourself. It can make you appear to be braggy.
Say Please & Thank You
Always tell people thank you when they give you a compliment. Avoid dismissing compliments as “no big deal.” Accepting credit sometimes just means saying, “Thank you very much” to the person who has given you the credit. When you talk to others, being polite goes far. Please and thank you are words that you should say often.
Let go of the fear associated with taking credit for your own work. You’re not doing anything wrong to act like the rock star you are and to take credit for doing the work necessary to become that rock star.
