Although Sarah is relatively new to the business world, she has been doing the wife and mom thing for about 13 years now. She is married to her husband David, and they and their children, Micah and Lydia, bravely entered the business world with a company called In-Courage Living. Their mission? To help people do brave things—every day!
The Notes
- Growing up, her family experiences some financial hardships, and her parents were not entrepreneurial, so starting her own business took a lot of courage for Sarah. She has a history of anxiety and agoraphobia which often prevented her from leaving the house and really enjoying life. She went through years of intense therapy to get to a point where she was embracing life, and now her passion is helping others to live their lives with bravery so that they too can embrace life in the same way that she now does.
- Her children are 8 and 11 and they already have plans to open their own restaurant. The 11-year-old wants to own the restaurant and prepare creative and innovative menus, whereas his little sister currently just dreams of working alongside her big brother. Both of the kids have also gotten involved with Sarah’s job as well, and accompanied her to a variety of speaking engagements.
- Sarah discusses her focus on developing relationships. Whether it’s a mom at the PTA meeting or another business owner at a networking event… often times it’s insecurities that hold us back from approaching new people. By being brave enough to approach other people in our personal and professional lives, we allow ourselves opportunities to meet diverse groups of people that can really shape our futures in amazing ways.
- Raising a family and running a business can be challenging and Sarah was able to realize that she needed to have anchors in both her family and her business, which is why she took the time to identify what her core values are. Those core values help her keep focus on the elements that are most important to her personally and professionally.
