There are so many ways available for monetizing your blog. It can be confusing to know which is the best one to use in order to make the most money. The truth is, there’s no one right way. Much will depend upon the type of blog you have, the content you write, your readers’ needs, whether you sell your own products, and how much time or money you have to invest. Let’s look at some common types of monetization and the ways in which you can best utilize them to make a profit.
Affiliate marketing is when you promote someone else’s product and receive a commission for each sale you refer. This is great if you don’t have your own product. The key to successful use of affiliate marketing is to create posts in which the product you’re promoting naturally fits.
Choose products that are relevant to your niche, then go further to center your post’s subject matter around that product. For example, if you’re a fashion blogger, you probably want to promote clothes that you love, perhaps a favorite designer. You can write a review post of five trendy items from that particular designer or simply write up a roundup post of trends for fall, including your affiliate brand in the mix.
Paid advertisements, such as pay-per-click campaigns, aren’t well-suited for all types of blogs. They’re best if you have a large following, preferably around 100,000 clicks per day. However, you may attract companies who wish to purchase ad space if you have a particularly engaged and loyal following. These display ads allow you to leverage your trust value to gain a higher rate than you would likely get through PPC ads.
Your Own Products
There are several ways you can leverage your own products to earn an income from your blog. Webinars, courses, eBooks, other digital products, and physical products are ways you can monetize your posts. The thing about selling your own products is that you will probably have to go outside of your own blog property to market them. Guest posting on a relevant blog, advertising on social media platforms, and eliciting testimonials from others are all methods for getting your products out there. In addition, you can write your own blog posts that incorporate information from your products to generate interest and authority.
These are some of the most common methods of blog monetization with suggestions for maximizing their potential. Trial and error is your friend. Soon, you’ll find your monetization groove.
