When you’re serious about your business, you tend to learn a lot. The problem with learning a lot is that it’s tempting to try to do everything – right now. When you split your focus, it can make it harder to learn a new strategy. If you want to master anything, the best thing you can do is focus on one strategy at a time. That includes mastering a new traffic strategy.
Multitasking is a Myth
First, realize that you’ve been fed a bill of goods when it comes to multitasking. It’s sad. Look at every job description out there, and you’re likely to find them implying or even saying straight out that they want someone who can multitask or deal with a lot of interruptions. The truth is, studies show that no one can multitask efficiently. You’re no exception.
Building Momentum Takes Time
When it comes to building traffic, most strategies are part of a long game. That means it’s not going to happen overnight. Whatever traffic strategy you choose to focus on will take time. But, it’ll work best if you learn how to do it properly for your needs. It’s much easier to learn something when you’re focused.
Learning Something New Fully is Important
Whenever you’re learning something new, it’s hard to do it if your attention is divided. But when you really focus, you can learn something very well which means you’ll be able to do it better and faster.
It’s Easier to Tell if it’s Working
When you work on one traffic strategy at a time, it’s easier to tell exactly what’s working than if you try to employ many options at once. Sure, you can use and set up a lot of different tracking methods to find out what’s working, but it’s so much simpler to test a new traffic strategy on its own without doing too much extra work that isn’t needed right now. Once you show that it works to your satisfaction, then set up the tracking methods.
You’ll Develop Automation Faster
When you realize something works, it can get very exciting. If you want to keep doing it you’ll need to find ways to set up automation for some of the traffic-generating tasks that you’re using. That also can take time, which is why focusing on one method is best because you can truly immerse yourself all aspects of the method – including available automation.
You’ll be Able to Tell What Resonates Easier
Even if a method works to get traffic, that doesn’t mean it resonates with your audience. Remember, you want to attract a certain audience member. You want to attract your ideal customer. You even created an avatar for them. You’ll be able to take the time to study the traffic trends to find out if this is really the audience member you want.
When you focus on one traffic strategy at a time, it gives you time to build momentum and become an expert in that method. Once you are comfortable with that method, you can move on to a new one after you’ve created processes and automation to make it easy.
