After struggling to turn a profit her first few years in business, today's guest managed to turn it all around and skyrocket the profit in her floral design business from zero to over $70k in just one year–all while raising three small children.
Named a top wedding planner by Southern Living magazine, her stellar wedding and floral work has been featured in PEOPLE magazine, Once Wed , Cottage Hill and Style Me Pretty, among others.
Inside her much-raved-about signature course and tell-all business memoir, the Business Behind the Blooms, she provides a highly-educational, behind-the-scenes look at her multiple six figure floral design business model–from sales processes to proper pricing to proposals– educating other floral designers on how to make money, save time, and grow their team with confidence, hope, and courage.
I'm thrilled to introduce the founder of Zimmerman Education: Jessica Zimmerman
When Jessica was only 3, her sister died at the age of 8. Her dad worked full time and her mom was the full-time homemaker. Her mom takes great pride in her work, and devoted all her time to her one surviving child. But when Jessica went away to college, her mom had a really hard time with it. The lesson this life experience taught Jessica was that it was important for her to have something that was hers – not tied to any other family members. So she could not only be in charge of her time, but that she had a personal passion project. She was never entised by a corporate job – and in talking about her job history on this episode she realizes that she’s only worked for family businesses – which likely shaped the path her business has taken.
In this episode, you'll discover:
- The mistake she made with her first business, pursuing an opportunity with big potential to profit, which almost failed.
- What turned around that first business, and what happened to it when she decided to move on to other things.
- Why Jessica does not have an “end goal” – she doesn’t have a vision for where she will be in 5 or 10 years – and how she structures her goal setting to be flexible to her changing desires.
- Find out what Jessica did during her slow season to make $44,000 from her Instagram following of 300 (which grew to 700) – with no ad spend – and how it launched the educational aspect of her business (something she never saw coming!).
