Because we visited in the fall, we also got to make a visit to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin - the girls loved it - and I loved that they were all reasonably sized pie pumpkins, there is simply not enough room in the RV for huge pumpkins - and I feel like these fit with the Amish lessons we've been learning - minimalistic and only what's necessary - and these pie pumpkins can be eaten and enjoyed, not just merely for decor.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have to say, the desks in the one-room school house were fabulous.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There was a spacious shelf under the desk where we were able to store our purses and books would certainly fit there nicely.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Each desk was big enough for about 4 people.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We learned that Amish children begin attending school at 7 and learn 3 languages (High German, Pennsylvania Deutsch, and English) by the time they finish schooling in 8th grade (which is more similar to 10th or 11th grade in traditional US public schools).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is an egg incubator kept inside the house for incubating chicken eggs. We learned that it's essential that they be turned regularly, so the Amish will put an X on one side so they can ensure they're all turned appropriately.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
