Today’s reflection comes from a mentor, blogger, podcaster, and parent, Pat Flynn, who recently spoke at the Podfest Conference that I attended. I had the chance to interview Pat on Episode #33, which you can find at megbrunson.com/33. Go check it out!
The Notes
In an effort to connect with your kid after school, do you ever find yourself asking:
“How was your day?” Or “What did you learn today?”
If your kids are anything like mine, this is often a dead end conversation.
At Podfest, Pat shared a simple tidbit of advice in engaging your kids in conversation after school. He puts a twist on the question by asking “What can you teach ME today?”.
I realized asking this one question accomplishes a couple things:
- It helps enforce a lesson or concept in the mind of a child.
- It teaches children that he process of learning continues our entire life!
Try it today and watch your child light up! You might just learn a thing or two!
